Château Reynon

Château Reynon is located in Béguey, near Cadillac, on a hillside on the right bank of the Garonne, facing south. Part of the vineyard also occupies, in the neighboring town of Laroque, magnificent slopes facing south-east and the old limestone terrace of a small tributary of the Garonne, the Œuille.
A multi-generational family
The Dubourdieu family was already growing vines in the Graves region after the French Revolution. Traces of it were found in 1794. Georges Dubourdieu acquired an 1855 Cru Classé in - Château Doisy Daëne in 1924. His youngest son, Pierre, held the reins from the late 1940s until 2003. In the next generation, from the early 70s onwards, Pierre's only son Denis Dubourdieu and his wife Florence, both from old Bordeaux winegrowing families, took on other projects in parallel: - The takeover of Château Reynon in Côtes de Bordeaux in 1976 and the creation of Clos Floridène in Graves in 1982. - The fourth generation: Fabrice and Jean-Jacques Dubourdieu joined the family adventure in 2004 and 2006 respectively. In July 2016, Denis Dubourdieu passed away prematurely, leaving his sons to continue the viticultural project initiated by his ancestors and formidably developed by him.
Unique expertise
Denis has had two other brilliant careers: as a teacher and researcher, and as a consultant oenologist for over 70 estates in France and around the world. He was the driving force behind the construction of the ISVV in the south of Bordeaux, bringing together all the disciplines in the sector. He is considered one of the world's leading specialists in the vinification and ageing of white wines. His team's work has also made a major contribution to our understanding of red wine aroma. At the same time, Denis Dubourdieu is a winegrower and winemaker in his family vineyards, and advisor to numerous producers in France and abroad. His style, marked by great aromatic purity and a preference for complexity over power, is evident in his wines. The whites (dry or sweet) are bursting with fruit, mineral and slender, combining sapidity and freshness in a never-ending youthfulness. The deep-colored reds, with their fruit and spice aromas, combine smoothness and tannic density; irresistible when young, they have astonishing longevity.
Committed to agriculture
The family cultivates nearly 300 plots in the communes of Barsac, Pujols sur Ciron, Illats, Béguey and Laroque. In addition to winegrowing, they are committed to protecting the landscape, promoting local employment and renovating village houses to enhance the value of the land they love. The family advocates "reasoned agriculture", and has won numerous awards such as the three-level "high environmental protection value" certification, the "environmental management certification", and so on. Exclusively maintained by traditional ploughing, the soil in our vineyards receives no herbicides. Organic fertilizers are based on vegetable compost. Trellising, leaf removal and thinning are carried out by hand with meticulous care.
